Writing my destiny. A Juneteenth reflection.

Happy Juneteenth!

Earlier, I was listening to Terry Moran and Anand Giridharadas on an interview on substack. Something Terry said stuck out to me. He said someone at Substack reached out to him after he was let go from ABC News. They invited him to create a writers account. Upon reflection, he said “I’m in charge of my own destiny in this model and in charge of my own career.” That stuck out to me. It reminded me that I need to get back to writing and put more effort into being in charge of my destiny. While I believe my steps are ordered by God, I also need to put in work towards my goals.

As I move through my doctoral program, I need to develop my writing muscle to get ready for my upcoming dissertation. I already have my topic, but I need to build a habit of writing. There is so much to consider when writing a dissertation. My worldview, how I distill information and how I create new knowledge is all a part of what I’ll be doing. There’s no time to start like the present.

My goals for my writing are to develop my storytelling ability, share insights from my research, provide update on projects I’m working on, and document my doctoral journey.

Meredith here with big news—I’ve been busy building a virtual classroom app tailored for my “Create Your Digital Twin Workshop.” This new platform can support up to 12 students and doesn’t require high-end hardware, making learning easier and more accessible. Plus, I’m considering starting a voice note series to blend with my AI art. Exciting times ahead as I aim for financial independence and consistent content creation.
